(Γιάννης Α. Παπαϊωάννου∙ γεννήθηκε στην Καβάλα το 1910∙ πέθανε στην Αθήνα το 1989∙ συνθέτης συμφωνικής μουσικής∙ σπούδασε πιάνο με τη Μαρίκα Λασποπούλου και θεωρητικά-σύνθεση με τον Αλέκο Κόντη στο Ελληνικό Ωδείο Αθηνών∙ το 1949-50, ως υπότροφος της UNESCO επισκέφθηκε μεγάλα μουσικά κέντρα της Ευρώπης∙ ήταν καθηγητής ιστορίας της μουσικής στο Εθνικό Εκπαιδευτήριο Αναβρύτων και θεωρητικών και σύνθεσης στο Ελληνικό Ωδείο στην Αθήνα∙ υπήρξε ο πρώτος στην Ελλάδα, που δίδαξε παράλληλα με τις παραδοσιακές και νεώτερες τεχνικές σύνθεσης∙ τo 1983 η Ακαδημία Αθηνών του απένειμε το «Αριστείον Καλών Τεχνών»)
