στο λήμμα Μελίνα Μερκούρη (Μελίνα Μερκούρη· Μελίνα (Αμαλία-Μαρία) Μερκούρη· γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα στις 18 Οκτωβρίου του 1920· πέθανε στη Νέα Υόρκη στις 6 Μαρτίου 1994· Ελληνίδα ηθοποιός και πολιτικός με αντιδικτατορική δράση· η μακροβιότερη υπουργός Πολιτισμού στην Ελλάδα κατά τα έτη 1981-89 και 1993-94· το 1938 έγινε δεκτή στη Δραματική Σχολή του Εθνικού Θεάτρου· πρωτοεμφανίστηκε στη θεατρική σκηνή το 1944· από το 1951 αρχίζει να πρωταγωνιστεί παράλληλα και στη Γαλλική θεατρική σκηνή· στις 18 Μαΐου του 1966 παντρεύτηκε με τον Ζυλ Ντασέν· η πορεία της στον διεθνή και ελληνικό κινηματογράφο της χάρισε αρκετά βραβεία όπως το βραβείο πρώτης γυναικείας ερμηνείας του Φεστιβάλ των Καννών καθώς και μία υποψηφιότητα για Όσκαρ για την ταινία «Ποτέ την Κυριακή»· έκανε σπουδαία πορεία στη δισκογραφία
