Σουρής· γεννήθηκε στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου του 1853 στην Ερμούπολη της Σύρου· πέθανε στις 26 Αυγούστου 1919 στο Νέο Φάληρο· Έλληνας σατιρικός ποιητής· κατά τη διάρκεια της ζωής του προτάθηκε για βραβείο Νόμπελ Λογοτεχνίας συνολικά 5 φορές· μετά τη χρεοκοπία της οικογένειάς του εργάστηκε ως υπάλληλος στο κατάστημα ενός θείου του σιτέμπορου στη Ρωσία για δύο μήνες μόνο· επιστρέφοντας στην Αθήνα γράφτηκε στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, χωρίς όμως να καταφέρει να πάρει πτυχίο· για να βιοπορίζεται παρέδιδε μαθήματα και δημοσιογραφούσε· δημοσιογράφος της έμμετρης σάτιρας των γεγονότων της εποχής· από τις 2 Απριλίου 1883 ως τις 17 Νοεμβρίου 1918 εξέδιδε την εφημερίδα του με τίτλο "Ο Ρωμηός", που ήταν μια έμμετρη εβδομαδιαία σατιρική εφημερίδ
